A Review Of Some Of The Great Gifts For The Wine Lover On Your List

General Comments Off

Of course, it’s hard to beat a nice bottle of wine as a gift. Available in so many styles and flavors and in such a wide price range, wine is a gift anyone can purchase. Wine is a good choice as a gift for any occasion and one any wine lover would appreciate.

One great way to give wine is purchasing a specially personalized wine. Many companies offer wine and champagne selections that can be personalized with custom made labels. First select a wine that suits your occasion and the person you will give it to. Then you will choose a unique label and add your own message to the bottle. Place the wine in a creative container or wrapper and you have a perfect gift for almost anyone.

Wine related items make good gifts, too. Corkscrews are terrific gifts, with or without the accompanying bottle of wine. Corkscrews are a tool that allows you to open a bottle of wine but still leave the cork intact. This is a must to preserve the true flavor of the wine.

Corkscrews come in a wide variety of styles and designs to choose from. They can be made from inexpensive chrome or stainless steel or they can be as fancy and pricey as you want. Corkscrews can even be found with mother-of-pearl inlays and other details that allow them to be design statements in and of themselves.

A new electronic device called the pocket vineyard is available now. Similar to a Blackberry in design, the pocket vineyard is perfect for wine lovers everywhere. All kinds of information is contained in the device such as a wine glossary, vintage wine charts and suggestions for matching wines with foods. This would be an excellent gift for the beginning wine collector as they can learn more about wine and how to make good choices for their collections.

There are many other options out there for wine related gift items. You can check your local wine shops and department stores for ideas or do a search online. You’ll find everything from wine charms to clubs that ship a special wine each month to the recipient. Wine related gifts will only be limited by your imagination and budget.

Few gifts are as widely varied and available as wine. Wine makes a great gift for just about any event and is one that will provide a great impact. A bottle of wine wrapped in gold foil and tied with a decorative ribbon definitely makes a statement about both the giver and how they feel about who they are giving it to. Whoever you give a bottle of wine to will appreciate your thoughtfulness and truly enjoy your gift from the heart.

Why Men Are So Difficult to Buy Gifts For?

1. Because they refuse to make a list

You’ve been secretly adding to YOUR Christmas and Birthday list since January. Well, you have to be prepared, don’t you? – just in case anyone asks what you want. But you keep asking and asking him to make a list. Or at least suggest a few things so YOU can jot them down in case someone asks YOU what he wants, as they inevitably will. And does he? Does he ever?! That’s why buying gifts for women is relatively easy, they know what they want so you only have to ask. But buying gifts for men is difficult as they won’t give you any clues.

2. Because they say daft unhelpful things like “don’t bother to get me anything”

But do they really mean it? Of course not.

3. Because they say “just get me socks” when they already have a drawer full

OK so half of them have holes in but they like them, they’re old friends and they refuse to throw them away.

4. Because they get excited about things we don’t understand

They may enthuse about the new Top of the Range Series 4, Version 8, 24 kilowatt, 3.5 gigabyte, 400 bhp XP Rated Super-powered Whatnot but it all goes right over our heads.

5. Because they never know they want it until they see it

They don’t have the imagination we women have to conjure up in our heads that dream bag with two pockets on the outside and a zip on the inside in a very particular colour, shape and size that drives us to scour the shops until we find one that precisely matches the picture we’ve drawn in our heads (and handbags don’t generally make good gifts for men anyway!)

6. Because the moment they see something they want they just buy it

You can pretty much guarantee that shortly before Christmas or their birthday they’ll come back proudly waving a great new gadget that they just happened to spot on their travels with a triumphant cry of “look what I found!” And your heart sinks with a sigh of “if only I’d spotted it first!” Even if the sign in the shop helpfully stated “gifts for men” it won’t have occurred to them that they could put it on their non existent list and wait for someone else to buy it for them.

Well, that’s a few reasons why gifts for men are difficult to buy. I’m sure you can think of a few more. The big question is – what are you going to do about it?

1. Forget asking him to make a list because it just ain’t going to happen.

2. Ignore the “don’t bother to get me anything” nonsense, tempting though it may seem.

3. Resist telling him in a disparaging tone exactly how many pairs of socks he already has, including the ones he is wearing and the ones in the wash.

4. Try to show a little interest in all those numbers and letters he spouts from time to time, just in case there’s a useful clue in there somewhere.

5. Spot something he’ll like before he does!

6. Buy it and hide it away before he gets the chance to see it and buy it himself!

The last two tips might appear easier said than done but there are plenty of unusual gifts for men that he doesn’t know exist.

Would he like to build his own Porsche or Lamborghini? OK it’s just a scale model but if you want to go larger and can’t afford to buy him the real thing, you could also treat him to an experience day, driving one. Personalised Sports books make great gifts for men who are into Football, Tennis, Cricket, Boxing, Rugby, Golf, Horse Racing or Formula One. Or you can even order a specially recorded personalised “you’re a legend” football commentary. Or how about a “Grow Your Own Football Pitch”? You might even get one with authentic grass seeds from the club he supports! If you reckon he’s more newsworthy than he realises you can get him a personalised spoof Daily Mirror newspaper. Or perhaps he’d like to grow his own carnivorous plants, hot chillies or bonsai tree? For the technically minded who also enjoy a hint of retro, how about a classic look telephone with up to date technology? Or if he’s a brain box, there’s always an IQ test gift pack. These are just a few ideas to whet your appetite. Whatever he’s into there are plenty of gifts for men he really won’t know he wants until he gets one.

Gifts Options When Buying For Dad

One of the hardest people to buy for is your father. Unlike mothers, fathers don’t always want the sentimental gift, they prefer tangible gifts like books, movies or sports memorabilia.

It can be hard to buy for dad, but there are certain gifts that will work perfectly and always create a smile on his face. Some gifts are more expensive, but most can be bought cheaply, yet they can have the excellent results you look for.

Toolsets are the old standby. These gifts are always a hit with dad for the very reason that most dads love tools. They have tool sheds, tool boxes and tool kits and they love to adding items to these things. Dads will smile about any tool you give them, especially a new one that has just hit the market. A tool to dad is like a computer to a nerd, they are always associated with each other. Dads will never fail to thank you for a tool. One way to get the best tool is to look for something that says “New and Improved”, or “Now Four in One”.

Books, for the right dad, are good gifts because there are many times where a dad will want to sit and read a good western while the snow falls outside. Before you buy a gift, know what kind of genre your dad likes and cater to that. If you buy the wrong genre, the gift will collect dust and never even be cracked open to see a reader’s eyes.

Sports equipment is one of the most common presents for a father. Whether it is a hockey stick, fishing rod or simply a football, if it is used for a sport, then it is something dad wants. One good bet is to go with sports memorabilia. Buy something that represents your dad’s love for his favorite sports team. A signed photo could brighten up his birthday or Christmas like no other gift could.

Of course, when buying gifts there are things you should never think about buying. These include figurines, clothing, (unless it is a nice shirt), and of course, the dreaded tie. Ties are something that seem like a good idea for a dad, but often fall flat when Christmas or a birthday comes. Never go with a tie as it will only mean a poor gift for dad, wasted money for you and a tie that will never get the use it deserves.
